Day 1 Curriculum (2 Hours)

Outcomes

1. A VM Linus/Plone instance installed on the learner's machine

2. Have basic knowledge of how to use Plone

3. Learner has tool to sign in to BEAM server environment via ssh and understand the directory structures

4. Learner has basic understanding of the BEAM server infrastructure environment and the purpose of each element

 

Activity: Local Plone

Install BEAM 3.1.6 CD on learner's PC

You will be given a CD that has SUN Virtual Box which has Ubuntu and Plone

On Windows

You will then have a Sun Virtual Box VM machine

You will have Plone server within the VM

You can also use the Linux Ubuntu OS to access the BEAM server to practice the following lab.

Simple Plone Tasks (using VM Plone Install)

 

Go to your local Plone

- Change the intro page

- Add a folder

- Add a page

- etc.

Learn How-To Use Linux Command Line and GUI

Command Line:

ssh to section09.net

use Terminal command to navigate file system

learn simple emacs command

GUI:

Use GUI file browser to explore beam.net file system

Document Actions
