Day 2 Curriculum
Objectives
Recap Day 1. Make sure learner know how to start Plone local server installed from Day 1.
Learn more about the section09.net Plone server setup to enable learners to do simple server admin functions such as:
1. Restart Server4u server
2. Restart apache, varnish and Plone
3. Modify/maintain Plone buildout.cfg file to demonstrate how to download products into dev site
4. Migrate plone site from one server to another .. such as from Version 3 to Version 4
In so doing, also handle some of the current BEAM to-do's to demonstrate how to do Plone admin. include
- Rebuild the dev server
- Create a Plone 4 production server
- Export a Plone site from Version 3 server to Version 4 server
Show how to build a new Plone Instance using easyinstall, zopeskel and buildout
Lessons Include
On the Server4U server, re-build the Plone Dev server from "scratch"
Build Plone Server (rebuild Dev Instance of Plone)
1. Show the various steps of building a Plone server, introducing the concepts of
- zopeskel
- Buildout
- paster
2. Show how to start Apache, Varnish and Plone
- In background and foreground modes
At the end of lesson we will again have a running dev Developer Server that
responds to http://devadmin.middlewaygroup.com/manage
We can again have the ability to use Dev to test out new products before we install them on the Production Site.
Rebuild ymap.middlewaygroup.com
or somehow fix the mail problem from that site.
