1. Steve Conners to contact Hobson folks directly to find out more details about their proposal ==> http://bit.ly/dFNlzw

2. ESA grant stipulates an existing 501C3 organization to deliver the program. Steve and Al to talk to various groups in town preferably those with national reach.
   - Start with the Y: Steve Court.

3. We felt the notion of applying for this grant either partnering with Hobson or on our own proposal will be a worthwhile pursuit. Potential collaborators:
   - CARM , Diversity Council, BEAM, etc.

It can be rallying point to offer a "creative" way of educating youth through interactive gaming tools that is multi-media vs traditional static delivery

4. Socializing first with parents and adult guardians is essential before enrollment of students. Need to talk to "mom/dad" first. Utilizing organizations that have existing processes and network is critical.

5. Here is link to ESA Foundation: http://www.theesa.com/foundation/index.asp

Nice link .. agree that youth enjoy learning through games, but may also be quite a nice approach for family dynamics. We have enjoyed the Wii as well as XBox tools and software for a variety of activities ... Sports, Music, Dance, Yoga, Medical trauma skills, Call of Duty. Virtual Worlds are certainly an increasing part of our reality!!

Next steps, we are thinking of getting Angela: XBox Live for Family (secured remote access) so she can play with her cousins and uncles/aunts.

I am sorry that I missed the meeting. Sounds like a great way for middle school-er to get the most out of the session using 30-40 minutes of time on the computer followed by working with a facilitator. This can have the fun aspects of a game while being able to focus on fairness, bullying, compassion.

Folks,

I was hoping to get more information to you today, but I'm going to have to keep this brief -

I spoke to the folks in Alabama - there are two camps there:
Shirley Taylor - head librarian at the Hobson City Public Library. Her library would be the main site, would house the AL computers, and would keep the computers upon completion of the project.
Jacksonville State University - at the request of Shirley, Aaron Garrett and a team of professors put together the proposal we read and would create the curriculum.
Both camps were open to adjusting the project design.

Al and I spoke to Steven Courts, executive directory of the Rochester Family YMCA. He was intrigued and interested in pursuing either this or a similar opportunity. He also has connections with the Mason City and La Crosse Y's that we may be able to leverage.

More to follow.
